As far as the eye can see, towering computers quietly beep and whirr, processing information at a thousand miles a minute. This place was labyrinthine- the size of a big-name grocery store, with servers and machines creating an unfeeling maze. No wonder nobody works here- it must be impossible to memorize the layout of this place.
You hear something approaching, rhythmically tapping the floor as it gets closer to you. No, not tapping- //marching. // You aren't alone here after all. You feel a lump catch in your throat as you duck into a crevice formed by the computers, just in time to catch the briefest glimpse of someone- or some//thing//. At least, it was dreamless for a while.
You find yourself outside a doorway, in a dimly-lit sector of the company you've never been to and likely will never see. Everything is grainy, and the air feels thick to move through. You trudge through the hallway and press yourself up against the door. Two people are talking in there- two voices you don't recognize.
"Shh... it's alright, dear... I'm here... hmm-hmm..." coos one voice. It's low and sweet, perhaps an older employee? Listening closer, you can hear the huffs of a respirator.
"God- godddddd- I fucked it- They- I- They're all gonna seeeeeeeee and it's all my faaauulltttttt......" The other voice, blubbering through hiccups and tears, sounds about your age, if a couple years younger. They sounded sluggish and lethargic- maybe it was just their sobbing?
"I'm sure nobody saw anything, sweetheart... and if they did, ███████ can just... wipe them away..." whispers the first voice. You could have sworn they said a name there, but the whole world went completely silent as they did.
"It's not your fault, dear... it's not your fault...."
"It's nott... it's.... it's not my...... not my fault.....hehheh. Hehh....." The second voice stops crying, melting into drowsy, blissful giggling.
"That's right... now, stay here with me."

Your journey back down the hallway to your cubicle was marked with that same odor of paint thinner, but somehow even more pungent this time. You tug your coat above your nose to try and block some of it out, but whatever smells that strongly is making your eyes water.
The motivational poster pinned to your magnetboard seems to mock you as you grimace through the tainted air. "Hang in there!" they cheer. It's getting really hard to.

There's a distinct smell lingering in the air. Something halfway between dentist's office and paint stripper. It's not pleasent at all, burning your airways just slightly as you walk, but you'll have to grin and bear it.
There's a couple other trainees around, bustling about with their own little tasks, but you feel almost invisible. You suppose ignoring eachother is an efficient way to go about things.
